Ingredients:

• Moong Dal – 1 cup
• Jaggery – 1 cup
• Shredded cheese – 1/2 cup
• Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
• Roasted Cashewnuts – 6 (cut into pieces)
• Roasted Almonds – 6 (Cut into pieces)
• Roasted Raisins – 6
• Ghee – 4 tbsps

Method:

  1. Soak moong dal for 1/2 hr.
  2. Grind the soaked dal coarsely.
  3. Steam cook the ground dal for 5 minutes.
  4. Crush the cooked dal into small crumbs in the form of an uppuma.
  5. Heat jaggery in a pan by adding 1/2 a cup of water and prepare the syrup.
  6. Add cardamom powder and let it boil well for 2 minutes.
  7. Add the prepared dal with the jaggery syrup and mix well.
  8. Add some ghee and stir the mixture well.
  9. The jaggery syrup should dry and must not stick to the pan.
  10. Add the cashews, almonds and raisins.
  11. Garnish with shredded cheese on top.
