Ingredients:

• 1 kg – chicken, jointed and cut into medium-sized pieces
• 3 – big tomatoes, pureed
• 2 – big onions, chopped
• 3 – medium-sized potatoes, pealed and cut into quarters
• 3 tbsp – oil
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp – powdered mustard
• 3 tsp – chilli powder
• 2 tsp – cumin powder
• 1 tsp – pepper powder
• 2 tsp – Garlic paste
• 1/2 cup – Vinegar
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder

Method:

  1. Wash the chicken and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a vessel or pressure cooker and fry the onions golden brown.
  3. Add the garlic paste and fry well. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, mustard powder, pepper powder and a little water and fry well until the mixture oozes oil.
  4. Add the tomato puree and salt and fry for some more time.
  5. Add the chicken, potatoes and vinegar and mix well.
  6. Add water to get the right consistency for the gravy and pressure-cook until done (2-3 whistles).
