Ingredients:

• Bread – 6 slices, each trimmed and cut into 4-6 pieces
• Oil – 1 tbsp
• Mustard – 1/2 tsp
• Channa dal – 1/2 tsp
• Kadi patha – 8 leaves
• Urad Dal – 1/2 tsp
• Onion – 1, medium sized
• Chopped and boiled vegetables (carrot, beans, peas) – 1 cup
• Asafoetida – a pinch
• Salt to taste
• Red Chilli – 2
• Green chilli – 3
• Sugar to taste (optional)

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, asafoetida, channa dal, urad dal, chillies and kadi patha.
  2. Then add onions and fry until the ingredients turn brown.
  3. Next add the vegetables and saute for a little while.
  4. Then add the bread pieces and sprinkle some water.
  5. Fry for a while until the bread pieces turn brown.
  6. Add salt to taste and a bit of sugar (optional).
  7. Serve with mint chutney.
