Ingredients:
• 200 gms – tender yam, peeled, cubed
• 1/2 cup – coconut, grated
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1/4 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1/4 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 tbsp – oil
• 1 tbsp – grated Coconut for garnish
• pepper powder to taste
• salt to taste
Method:
- Cut yam, soak it in salted water in which half of the turmeric has been added.
- Soak for half an hour, drain and add to 1.5 cups of fresh water.
- Add coconut and the remaining turmeric, boil it till cubes become soft.
- Add chilly powder, salt, pepper and curry leaves.
- Heat oil in a small pan, add seeds, dal and allow it to splutter.
- Add it to the vegetables, stir it and pour it into a serving dish.
- Garnish with grated coconut.
- Serve hot with rice or chapathi.
