Ingredients:

• For Kofta: 300 g Chicken minced
• 0.5 tsp Garam Masala
• A big pinch grated Nutmeg
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
• 1 tsp green chillies, minced
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• For gravy: 1 cup onion, finely sliced
• Oil to deep fry
• 2 tbsp Cashew nuts
• 3 tbsp Poppy Seeds
• 2 tbsp melon seeds (Magaz)
• 3 Cloves
• 3 Cardamoms
• 2 blades Mace
• 1 tsp chilli powder
• 0.5 tsp Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
• Coriander leaves to garnish

Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients for Kofta. Shape into 3 cm round balls and reserve.
  2. Deep fry the onion in hot oil till golden brown and grind to a paste.
  3. Grind cashew nuts, poppy seeds and melon seeds to a paste.
  4. Heat 3 tbsps of the oil in which onion was fried.
  5. Add cloves, cardamom and mace.
  6. Add the cashew nut paste and fry till oil separates.
  7. Add turmeric and chilli powder, fry for 1 minute.
  8. Add the onion paste and 2 cups of water. Add salt to taste.
  9. Add the koftas and let it simmer gently till the koftas are cooked (if needed ,add more water while cooking).
