• Tamarind-a gooseberry shaped ball
• Red chillies-4
• Mustard-1/2 tsp
• Jeera-1/2 tsp
• Tur Dal-1/2 tsp
• Asafoetida-1/2 tsp
• Rasam powder-1 tsp
• Oil-1 tsp
• Salt-to taste
• Curry Leaves-a sprig
• Coriander Leaves-a few


  1. Soak tamarind in water and extract juice.
  2. In a pan, add tamarind water,rasam powder,salt and asafoetida. Boil well till raw smell goes away.
  3. Temper with mustard ,tur dal, jeera and red chillies.
  4. Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice.
