Ingredients:
• Lobia (cowpea) – 250g
• Raw Rice – 3 tsp (soaked for 4 to 5 hours)
• Green chillies – 4, chopped fine
• Onions – 2 medium-sized, chopped fine
• Chopped Ginger – 1 tsp
• Curry leaves – 2 tsp, chopped
• Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp, chopped
• 2 – Cloves
• 3 – Cloves of Garlic
• A small bit of cinnamon, crushed roughly
• A pinch – aniseed (optional)
• Salt
• Oil for frying
Method:
- Grind lobia along with rice to vada consistency (medium coarse). Usually no water is required while grinding.
- Add all the ingredients except the oil for frying.
- Make a small vada (on a plastic paper) with a hole in the centre and deep-fry in oil till golden brown in colour.
- Can be served with any pickle or chutney (best with chicken kurma for non-vegetarians).
