Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Toor Dal
• 2 – Garlic Cloves
• 1/2 cup – coconut, grated
• 4 – onions, chopped
• 2 – Tomatoes
• 1 – sprig of Curry leaves
• 1 – handful of Coriander leaves
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 3 – Green chillies

Method:

  1. Cook soaked dal well with 1/2 onions, tomatoes, and turmeric in 2 cups of water.
  2. Fry onions and garlic in a kadai.
  3. Grind it with coconut and coriander to make a paste.
  4. To the cooked the dal, add chilli powder and salt and boil for 5-10 mins, adding a little water to it.
  5. Add the ground paste to the dal and boil for another 10 mins on low fire till smell of the masala leaves.
  6. Serve hot with chapattis, dosas or hot rice with ghee on it.
