Dal Dhokli is a traditional dish of Gujarati cuisine generally prepared with tuvar dal (lentil) and wheat flour as base Ingredients. Dal Dhokli is perfect meal recipe which you can make it either in lunch or dinner, it’s very easy to make and healthy recipe. Below are some easy steps to follow this recipe.

Ingredients

To Make Dal

– 1 cup Tuvar dal
– 2 tablespoon soaked Peanuts
– 1 teaspoon chopped Garlic
– 4 Kokum
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
– 1/2 teaspoon Chili powder
– 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
– 8-9 curry leaves
– Salt to taste

To Make Dhokli

– 1 cup wheat flour
– 1/2 teaspoon asafetida
– 1/2 teaspoon Chili powder
– 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
– Oil
– Salt to taste

How To Cook?

1. Boil the tuvar dal and the peanuts in a pressure cooker till soft.
2. Now, in a fruing pan and heat 1 tablespoon of ghee and add cumin seeds, garlic, asafoetida and the boiled dal.
3. Then add kokum, turmeric powder, chili powder, sugar leaves, curry leaves and salt, and boil the dal again.
4. To make the dhokli, in a bowl, mix the flour, salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, asafoetida and a little oil and make a stiff dough with the help of water.
5. After knead the dough well, roll out the dough into 10 cm discs.
6. Cut the discs into diamonds or squares with a knife and drop them into the boiling dal mixture.
7. When all the dhokli pieces are added into the dal, boil it for 15 minutes on a LOW flame.
8. Garnish the dal-dhokli with coriander leaves and serve this delicious dal-dhokli hot.
