Ingredients:
• 1.5 cups – plain flour
• 1/2 cup – Milk
• 100 g – Butter
• 1.25 cups – Sugar
• 1 – Egg
• 1 cup – dates, pitted and chopped
• 1 cup – boiling water
• 1/2 cup – chopped Walnuts
• 1 tsp – baking soda
• 1 tsp – baking powder
Method:
- Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
- Add dates, baking soda and baking powder to boiling water, and let it cool.
- Sift the flour.
- Beat the egg.
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add the egg to the butter and sugar mixture.
- To this, add flour and date mixture.
- Add milk and half the walnuts.
- Bake in a 20-cm round tin for 60 minutes.
- Remove and let it cool on a wire rack.
- Garnish the cake with the remaining walnuts.
