Ingredients:

• Onion – 1
• Green gram – 1/2 cup
• Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
• Chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
• Ginger – a small piece
• Garlic – 4 Cloves
• Salt – 3/4 tsp
• Coriander leaves – a few sprigs

Method:

  1. Cook the green gram well.
  2. Chop 3/4th of the onion into small pieces.
  3. Grind the remaining piece of onion with coriander powder, salt, ginger and garlic into a paste -using little water.
  4. Fry the chopped onions in 2 tsp of vegetable oil.
  5. Add the paste to it once the onion turns brown in colour.
  6. Stir it for a while.
  7. Add the cooked daal and cook till they mix well.
  8. Garnish the dal with coriander leaves.
