Ingredients:

• 6-8 – green chillies, slit in two
• 1 – onion, big, sliced finely
• 1/2 bundle – coriander leaves, chopped and washed
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
• 3/4 tbsp – ginger/garlic paste
• Curry leaves – a few
• 8-10 – Mint leaves
• 8 – tomatoes, big, mashed
• 2 cups – rice, soaked for 20-25 mins
• 1/4 cup – oil

Method:

  1. Fry the onions, green chillies, curry leaves, mint leaves and coriander leaves till the onions are brown.
  2. Add the ginger/garlic paste and fry till a nice smell comes.
  3. Now add the salt, mashed tomatoes, turmeric powder and mix nicely.
  4. Add this fried mixture with the rice in an electric rice cooker, add 3 cups water, cover cooker, plug on and let the rice cook.
