Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Beaten Rice (Poha)
• 2 tsp – Tamarind paste
• 2 tsp – Jaggery
• Salt to taste
• 1.5 cups – Water
• 1 tsp – Chilli powder
• 2 tbsp – Grated Coconut
• Coriander leaves for garnishing
• Seasoning ingredients:
• 2 tbsp – Oil
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• A pinch of Asafoetida
• A pinch of Turmeric
• 1/4 tsp – Bengal Gram dal
• 1/4 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1/2 tsp – Groundnut
• Curry leaves

Method:

  1. Coarsely grind poha for a few seconds in a blender.
  2. Make sure it doesn’t become powdery.
  3. Add tamarind, jaggery, salt, chilli powder and salt to water.
  4. Mix well and add the coarse poha.
  5. Heat oil and add mustard. Allow it to splutter.
  6. Add turmeric, asafoetida, curry leaves and the rest of the seasoning ingredients.
  7. Add the soaked poha to the seasoning.
