Ingredients:

• 1/2 kg – Chicken
• 1.5 cup – Gongura leaves
• 4- Green chillies
• 3/4 cup – chopped Onions
• 2 tsp – Garam Masala
• 1.5 tbsp – poppy seed paste
• Oil as needed
• 1/2 tbsp – ginger-garlic paste
• 1/8 tsp Sugar
• Dry spices
• 1 – Bay Leaf
• 1- sprig of Curry leaves
• 2 – green Cardamoms
• 4 – Cloves
• Small – Cinnamon stick
• A pinch – cumin
• To Marinate:
• 2 tsp – Lemon juice
• 3/4 tbsp – ginger-garlic paste
• 1/8 tsp – Turmeric
• 1/8 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• Salt as needed.

Method:

  1. Grind poppy seeds into a fine paste.
  2. Marinate the chicken with lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt and keep aside.
  3. Heat a pan with 1 tsp oil, add the gongura leaves and fry till they wilt , add sugar to retain the green colour and set aside to cool
  4. Heat a pan with oil, add the dry spices and saute.
  5. Add onions and green chillies, sprinkle some salt and fry till the onions turn brown.
  6. Take off the green chillies and grind in the blender along with gongura leaves.
  7. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a min
  8. Add chicken and fry on high for 2 to 3 mins, till the chicken turns white
  9. Add enough water to cover the chicken, add garam masala
  10. Cover and cook till the chicken is tender.
  11. Add the poppy seeds paste, and gongura paste and mix well.
  12. Cook on a low flame for 3 to 4 mins
  13. Serve hot
