Ingredients:

• 1/2 kg- black gram (urad dal) dal
• 1 bunch- amarantha leaves
• 1 cup, minced- Onion
• 3 to 4- green chilies, minced
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Wash and soak dal in water for 1 hour.
  2. Chop the greens finely.
  3. Drain the dal from water and grind to a fine paste with salt, adding minimum amount of water. (the batter should be stiff)
  4. Add green chilies and greens to the batter.
  5. With moist hand, take a lump of batter and place on a piece of plastic sheet.
  6. Flatten to a disc and make a hole in the center with your fore finger.
  7. Slip it into hot oil. Add few more wadas to oil and fry till golden brown.
  8. Use all the batter thus. Serve hot with dal chutney.
