Ingredients:
• 10 – large dry Red Chillies
• 100 – medium cockles (kubey)
• 1 – medium Coconut
• 1 tbsp – cooking oil
• 4 flakes – Garlic
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 8 – peppercorns
• Salt to taste
• 1 ball – Tamarind
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seed
Method:
- Wash the cockles thoroughly and remove all dirt and sand.
- Boil them in clean water.
- Remove the shells with a knife and keep the fleshy part.
- Gently pour out the top part of the water and discard the sediment.
- Grind the coconut with cumin seeds, peppercorns, tamarind, turmeric powder and dry red chillies.
- Add the masala to the water kept aside, and boil the cockles for 10 minutes.
- When the water evaporates, add the scraped coconut and the seasoning of mustard and crushed garlic, fried in 1 tbsp of cooking oil.
