Ingredients:

• 1/2 kg – boneless mutton, cubed
• 6 tbsp – oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1/2 inch piece Cinnamon
• 1 bayleaf
• 3 green chillies, slit
• 6 tbsp – dates, chopped
• 6 tbsp- apricots, chopped
• 6 tbsp – sultanas
• 1 tsp – grated rind of Lime
• 1 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• Salt to taste
• chopped fresh coriander- for garnishing

Method:

  1. Puree the dates
  2. Heat oil in a kadai and fry the meat cubes until well browned.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Add remaining oil, saute the onions for 5-7 mins.
  5. Add red chilli powder, cinnamon, bay leaf and lemon rind. Add fried meat. Add 1 cup water and salt to taste.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 mins.
  7. Add another cup of water, cover and cook for another 20 mins.
  8. Add the pureed dates, apricots and sultanas. Mix well and add more water if required.
  9. Cover and cook on low heat until the meat is cooked.
  10. Garnish with green chillies and coriander.
