Ingredients:

• Toor Dal – 1/2 cup
• Channa dal – 1/2 cup
• moong dal – 1/2 cup
• chopped Tomato – 1/2 cup
• Green chillies – 2, slit
• chilli powder – 1 tsp
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• coriander powder – 1 tsp
• cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
• ready to use Tamarind paste – 1 tsp
• Ghee or oil – 2 tbsp
• Cloves – 3
• Cardamoms – 3
• finely chopped Onion – 1/2 cup
• ginger-garlic paste – 2 tsp
• Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Wash all the dals together and add 2.5 cups of water.
  2. Add all the ingredients from tomato to salt.
  3. Pressure cook for 20 mins.
  4. Then, open the cooker and mash the dal till smooth.
  5. Add tamarind paste.
  6. If the dal is too thick, add some water.
  7. Heat the ghee or oil in a small fry pan.
  8. Add cloves and cardamoms.
  9. Add onion and fry till golden brown.
  10. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry till fragrant.
  11. Add the contents of the fry pan to the dal.
  12. Mix well and simmer for 2-3 mins.
  13. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  14. Serve hot with steamed rice or chapatti.
