
Ingredients:
• Large Onion – 1
• Tomato – 1 big or 2 small
• Garlic – 3 or 4 pods
• Turmeric -1 tsp
• Green chilli – 6-7
• Tamarind – a small piece
• Salt to taste
• Oil – 5 tsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
• Split urad dhal – 1/2 tsp
• Asafoetida – 1 pinch
• Curry leaves – a few
Method:
- Cut the onions and the tomatoes.
- Heat 2 tsp of oil in a kadai and saute the onions, tomatoes, garlic, chillies until pink.
- Cool, and grind this with the turmeric, salt and tamarind. Add a little water to grind.
- Heat the remaining oil in the kadai and splutter the mustard seeds.
- Then add the urad dhal, asafoetida and curry leaves.
- Grind well.
- Now add the ground chutney to the kadai and cook for 5 mins.
- Served with hot with dosa or idli.
