Ingredients:
• 3 cups – All-purpose flour
• 2 tsp – Active Dry yeast
• 1 tsp – Salt
• 1 tsp – Sugar
• 1.25 cup – Warm water
• 4 tbsp -Olive Oil (shaping, greasing, for drizzling)
• 1pinch Salt (for topping)
• 1 – Onion chopped
• 3 Garlic crushed
Method:
- Mix the sugar, salt and yeast in lukewarm water and rest for 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, take the all-purpose flour in a mixing bowl and add the foaming yeast. Mix everything well and transfer to lightly floured surface and knead to form soft dough.
- Coat a deep bowl with olive oil and place the soft dough and brush with more oil.
- Cover and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place. After an hour it will almost double in size.
- Place the dough in a round baking pan. Mix both the dry basil leaves with 1 tsp of olive oil and apply a few drops to the dough and flatten it. Rest for 1 more hour.
- Meanwhile, heat a tsp of oil and saute chopped onion and crushed garlic until they turn translucent. Keep aside.
- Return to the dough and press with your fingertips and drizzle some oil.
- Spread the Sauteed onion and garlic pieces over the dough.
- Preheat the oven to 475 Fahrenheit, place the baking pan on middle rack and bake for 15 minutes till the dough turns slightly brown.
- Serve with cream cheese and salads.
