Ingredients:

• 3 – medium onions, chopped
• 3 Cloves – garlic, chopped
• 1/2 inch piece – ginger, chopped
• 1/2 cup – Tomato paste
• 2 tbsp – Yoghurt
• Salt – to taste
• Water – as required
• Ghee/Oil – 1 tbsp
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1 tsp – Coriander seeds
• 3 to 4 – dry Kashmir chillies
• 3 – Cloves
• 8 – peppercorns
• 3/4 tsp – Turmeric

Method:

  1. Dry roast cumin, coriander, red chillies, cloves, peppercorns and turmeric on a tawa/frying pan and then grind with a little water to make a paste.
  2. Heat ghee or oil in a pan. Fry onions and garlic until golden in colour.
  3. Add ground spices and ginger.
  4. Fry until the oil begins to separate.
  5. Add tomato paste, yogurt and salt.
  6. Keep frying, stirring continuously.
  7. After a few minutes, add enough warm water to make a gravy. Cook for 8-10 mins.
