Ingredients:
• 5 to 6 – medium size potatoes, boiled.
• A pinch – Turmeric powder.
• 1 – green chilli, finely chopped.
• 2 – Coriander leaves finely chopped.
• A pinch of chaat masala.
• Salt to taste| Seasoning:
• 1 tsp oil.
• 1 tsp : Mustard seeds.
• 1 tsp : Urad dal| For the bonda batter:
• One and half cups of Gram flour.
• 1 tsp – chilli powder.
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder.
• 1 pinch – sodium bicarbonate.
• One cup – water.
• Salt to taste.
Method:
- Mix all the ingredients of the bonda batter along with water to make a fine paste.
- Mash the boiled potatoes with turmeric powder, salt, green chillies, coriander leaves and chaat masala.
- Heat a little oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds.
- Once it splutters, add the rest of the seasoning.
- Once it turns brown in a few seconds, add the potato masala and fry for a few minutes.
- Take out the masala and keep aside. After it cools, shape it into small balls and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
- Dip the potato masala into the bonda batter and deep fry in the oil for a few minutes.
- Once it is fried, take it out of the oil.
- Drain the excess oil by blotting it with a tissue paper and serve hot with mint chutney.
