Ingredients:

• 2 liters – whole fat Milk
• 2 – cooking apples, peeled and diced into small pieces
• 1/2 cup – Sugar
• 1/2 tsp – Cardamom powder
• 5 – almonds, thinly slivered
• 5 – pistachios, thinly slivered
• 15 to 20 – strands Saffron

Method:

  1. Boil milk to reduce to two-third in volume. In another pan, cook both apples and sugar.
  2. When apples have softened drain.
  3. Add drained liquid to kheer.
  4. Boil milk further for 5 minutes, to thicken.
  5. Add in apple and all other ingredients.
  6. Cook further for 3-4 minutes.
  7. Serve hot or very well chilled.
  8. Garnish with slivers of chopped almonds and pistachios.
