Ingredients:

• 2 cups – dried Channa
• 3 medium size – Onions
• 1 medium size – Potato
• 1 medium size – Tomato
• 1 tsp – Ginger and Garlic paste
• 5 to 6 – Green chillies
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala
• salt and chilli powder

Method:

  1. Soak the dried channa for about 4 to 5 hours ahead of time.
  2. Heat oil in a large non-stick pan, saute chopped onions and chillies until golden brown.
  3. Then, boil channa in the pressure cooker for 10 mins.
  4. Peel and cut raw potato into small pieces.
  5. Cut raw tomato into small pieces.
  6. Add cut potato, tomatoes and boiled channa to fried onion/chilli.
  7. Add 1 cup of water. Add salt and chilli powder to taste.
  8. Cover and let it cook on simmer for 10 mins (checking regularly for water levels).
  9. Once the dish is cooked to a thick gravy, sprinkle 2 to 3 tsps of garam masala powder and mix well.
