Ingredients:

• 1.5 pounds – Chicken
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 -onions, medium
• 1 tsp – Ginger
• 1 tsp – Garlic paste
• 1/2 tsp – Asafoetida
• 1 tbsp – chilli powder
• 1tbsp – Garam Masala
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 2 – onions, medium size
• 3/4 cup – Coconut dry
• 1 tsp – Poppy Seeds

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and cut chicken into medium sized pieces.
  2. Clean and cut one onion into thin long slices.
  3. In a frying pan, saute the onions till dark brown. Keep aside.
  4. Then roast the poppy seeds and dry coconut till it changes its colour.
  5. Grind together onion and coconut with water.
  6. Make a very fine paste of it. Keep aside.
  7. Heat oil in a pan and saute one finely cut onion till golden brown.
  8. Add ginger-garlic paste. Fry for a min, add asafoetida, turmeric powder, chilli powder, 1 tsp garam masala powder.
  9. Saute for a min. Add chicken and 1 cup of water.
  10. When it starts boiling, cover it with the lid.
  11. When the chicken is 3/4th cooked, add salt and the paste in it.
  12. Cook till the chicken is done.
  13. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
