Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup – Toor Dal
• 1/2 – onion, cut
• 1 – tomato, cut
• 1 tsp – rasam powder
• 1/2 tsp – chilli powder
• 2 tsp – Sugar
• 1/4 cup – Lemon juice
• salt to taste
• Little Turmeric powder
• 4 tsp – Coconut powder
• Coriander leaves
• For seasoning:
• 1 tsp – oil
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1/2 tsp – mustard and Cumin seeds

Method:

  1. Pressure cook tuvar dal with a little water and turmeric powder. Take a vessel, add oil.
  2. When it heats up, add urad dal.
  3. When the dal turns golden brown, add cumin and mustard seeds.
  4. When they pop up, add onion, tomato, rasam powder, chilli powder, sugar, lemon juice, salt, turmeric powder, coconut powder and the cooked tuvar dal.
  5. Finally add 4 cups of water. Mix them well.
  6. Bring it to boil, then add coriander leaves.
  7. Serve with rice.
