• Groundnut-1/4 cup
• Cumin-1 tsp
• Coriander seeds-1 tsp
• Shallots-6
• Tamarind-a small bit
• Green Chillies-2
• Red chilles-2
• Oil-1 tsp
• Salt to taste


  1. In a pan, add oil followed by cumin and coriander seeds. Add shallots, then red and green chillies. Fry well.
  2. Dry roast groundnuts in a pan and with your hands rub them to remove skin. You can easily blow the skins away.
  3. Add the fried coriander seeds, cumin and shallot mixture in a blender. Also add roasted groundnuts. Add tamarind and salt along with it. Grind nicely.
  4. If required you can add a little bit of water. Easy to make Verkadalai Thogayal is ready!
