Ingredients:
• 1 kg – rui (a variety of fish), cut into small pieces
• 250 gms – green peas, shelled and ground to a fine paste with a little water
• 1 tbsp – Turmeric paste
• 1 tsp – chilli paste
• 2 Cloves Garlic ground to a paste
• 1-inch piece ginger, ground to a paste
• 1 onion, ground to a paste
• 4 tbsp – Dahi (yoghurt)
• 3-4 green chillies, slit
Method:
- Place fish in dekchi or container in which you intend steaming it.
- Add the other ingredients including oil and mix thoroughly.
- Add salt and 1.5 tsp. sugar or to taste
- Cover container or dekchi with a tight-fitting lid or a piece of foil. Place in a large dekchi or pan.
- Steam for half an hour or till fish is cooked.
- Carefully remove small dekchi from the larger pan. Remove cover and pour fish into serving bowl.
- It is best served fresh and hot.
- A good accompaniment with rice.
