Sama rice is one of the vastly eaten food during fasting. Sama peanut rice dish is combination of sama rice and peanut. It can be healthy wholesome during your fasting days. This has very enjoyable flavor and rustic texture in which cooked sama rice are mixed with peanut and other spices mixture. You can enjoy them plain or with singhare ki kadhi. Try this delicious fasting recipe that can be prepared in just few minutes!

Ingredients:

– 1 cup sama rice
– 2 1/4 cups water
– Rock salt to taste
– 1/2 cup peanuts
– 1 teaspoon oil
– 4-5 dried red chilies
– 3 tablespoons grated coconut
– 6-7 black peppercorn
– Few fried cashew nuts, for garnishing

For Tempering

– 2 teaspoons oil
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 7-8 curry leaves

How To Cook?

1. In a wok, take 2 1/4 cups of water and bring it to boil.
2. Meanwhile, wash the sama rice into running water and soak it for a while.
3. Once the water starts boiling add rock salt and soaked sama rice to it. Stir it with the help of wooden spatula.
4. Cover the wok and cook until sama is completely cooked.
5. In the meanwhile, in a heated dry roast peanuts until light brown and skin starts to peel off then remove them from the pan. Allow these peanuts to cool for a while.
6. Once the peanuts cool enough, rub them between hands and remove the skin. Reserve 1 tablespoon of them.
7. In a pan, heat oil over medium flame. Once oil is hot reduce the flame and add dry red chilies and saute it for few seconds.
8. Add pepper corn and coconut and saut? them over low heat for about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
9. In a mixture grinder, grind first roasted chilli, coconut and peppercorn into powder then add skinned peanuts to it and grind it again into coarse powder.

For Tempering

1. In the same pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Allow them to splutter.
2. Then add curry leaves, reserved peanuts and roast until curry leaves becomes crispy.
3. Now, add this tempering and peanut mixture to cooked sama rice. Mix them well.
4. Switch off the flame and transfer this rice to the bowl.
5. Garnish it with fried cashew nuts and serve hot.
