
Ingredients:
• 500 g – colocasia (preferably round of medium size)
• salt
• 1 tbsp – Red Chilli powder mixed with 3 Cloves of crushed Garlic
• oil to deep fry chips
Method:
- Wash the colocasia thoroughly
- Scrape the outer skin and wipe with a cloth (just to remove the stickiness).
- Slice them into thin chips with the help of a chips slicer.
- Collect them on a cloth or plastic sheet (do not put them in water).
- Deep fry in batches in hot oil till golden yellow in colour.
- (They may be sticky initially but when you put them in oil and stir, they will separate).
- Remove to a deep pan or basin .
- Mix salt and red chilli powder (mixed with crushed garlic)
- Sprinkle this on chips while they are still hot.
- Gently toss the basin so that the chips are well coated with the powders.
- Variation:
- You can use pepper powder in place of chilli powder.
- Serve the chips with hot plain rice and sambar or any rice preparations
