Ingredients:

• River Fish – 1 kg
• Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
• Kalonji Seeds – 2 tsp
• Salt – to taste
• Mustard oil – 80 g
• Tomato – 50 g
• Green chilli – 20 g
• Red Chilli powder – 1 tbsp
• Fresh Coriander leaves – 25 g

Method:

  1. Cut the fish, preferably rohu, into slices after descaling and apply salt and turmeric. Set aside.
  2. Deep fry the fish till crisp and reserve.
  3. Smoke oil and crackle kalonji seeds.
  4. Make a paste of turmeric and red chilli in water and add to the pan.
  5. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add chopped tomato, slit green chillies and salt and simmer.
  7. Add fish pieces and simmer.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
