Ingredients:

• For boiling:
• 1 kg – crab, cleaned and cut into pieces
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – ginger, crushed
• 1/2 tsp – garlic, crushed
• 2 to 3 – gambooge/ kudampuli (adjust according to your taste)
• Salt – to taste
• Few – Curry leaves
• For stir frying:
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 7 to 8 – Shallots
• 4 Cloves – Garlic
• 4 to 5 – pepper Corns
• 1 tsp – Fennel seeds
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 – onion, chopped

Method:

  1. Put the cleaned crab, along with the ingredients for boiling, in an earthen pot with 1/4 cup of water. Cover and cook on low heat, till the crab is well cooked and the water dries off.
  2. Crush the shallots along with garlic, fennel seeds and pepper corns. Keep it aside.
  3. In a pan, heat oil and saute the onions, till they turn golden brown.
  4. Add the crushed mixture and saute, till the raw smell goes. Add chilli, coriander and turmeric powder. Stir for a minute.
  5. Add the crab and stir well.
  6. Let it cook for a couple of minutes, stirring in between.
  7. Switch off the heat and transfer to a serving dish.
