Ingredients:

• 1 kg – Chicken
• 2 – (cut to 4 pieces each) Turnips
• 2 – (cubed) Potatoes (optional)
• 2 – Onions
• 1 – Tomato
• 1 tbsp – (roasted) Cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp – (roasted) Coriander seeds
• 10-12 Cloves – Garlic
• 2 pinches – Mustard Seeds
• 2 – Bay Leaves
• Green chilli
• Coriander leaves
• Salt
• Turmeric powder
• Mustard oil

Method:

  1. Make a paste of the roasted cumin/coriander seeds, garlic cloves, green chilli and 1 onion, keep aside.
  2. Heat mustard oil and add mustard seeds.
  3. When the mustard seeds stop spluttering, add the other onion (grated) and stir for a minute.
  4. Add the bay leaves.
  5. After a minute or cut and add the tomato.
  6. When oil separates, add salt and turmeric powder, mix well.
  7. Now add the turnip/potato pieces and chicken, mix well and cover with a lid.
  8. After 2-3 minutes, add the cumin/coriander/garlic/green chilli/onion paste. Mix well.
  9. After 2 minutes add 2 glasses of water and cover again.
  10. When water starts to boil bring the heat to medium/low and cook till done.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  12. Serve with rice.
