
Ingredients:
• 1.75 cups – Maida
• 2 cups – Sugar
• 3/4 cup – cocoa powder
• 1.50 tsp -baking powder
• 1.50 tsp – baking soda
• 1 tsp – salt
• 1 cup – Milk
• 1/2 cup – vegetable oil
• 2 tsp – vanilla extract
• 2 -eggs
• 1 cup – boiling water
• Chocolate frosting:
• 1/2 cup – Butter (113 g or 1 stick)
• 2/3 cup – cocoa powder
• 3 cups – powdered Sugar
• 1/3 cup – Milk
• 1 tsp – vanilla
Method:
- Pre heat the oven to 350 Degree F/ 180 degree C.
- Grease and flour two 9 inch round baking pans.
- Mix together the dry ingredients (sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt) in a large bowl.
- Add the liquid ingredients (eggs, milk, oil and vanilla) to it.
- Beat on medium speed in a mixer for 2 minutes or beat well with a whisk for 5-8 minutes.
- Stir in the boiling water. The batter will be very thin. Pour it evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30 – 35 minutes.
- Test with a wooden skewer. If the skewer comes out clean, the cake is done.
- Chocolate Frosting
- Melt butter, stir in the cocoa.
- Add powdered sugar and milk alternatively, beating to a spreading consistency.
- Stir in vanilla. Add more milk, in tea spoonful, if needed.
