Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Bengal Gram (chana dal), soaked in water for 2 hours
• 1/2 coconut, cut into small pieces
• 10 Raisins
• 2/3 Green chillies
• Oil as needed
• Salt to taste
• For garam masala:
• 2 Bay Leaves
• 1 tsp – ground Red Chillies
• 2.5 cm Ginger
• 1 tsp – Cumin seed powder

Method:

  1. Boil the dal with salt till tender.
  2. Each grain of the dal must be soft and separate. Heat oil.
  3. Add the garam masala and pour over the dal.
  4. Fry small cubes of coconut and put in the dal.
  5. Add the raisins and 2-3 slit green chillies.
  6. Simmer till well done.
  7. Serve with puris.
