Ingredients:
• 2 cups – Rice
• 4 to 5 tbsp – oil
• 3 big Onions (finely sliced)
• 3 to 4 – Cloves
• 1 Cinnamon stick
• 2 – Bay Leaves
• 4 to 5 – Cardamoms
• 4 cups – water
• salt to taste
Method:
- Wash and soak the rice for 20-30 minutes.
- Take oil in a heavy bottomed vessel and fry the finely sliced onions on a low flame till they are golden brown in color.
- After the onions are done, remove about 2 tbsp of fried onions and keep aside for garnishing.
- To the Onions in the vessel, add cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaves and cardamoms and fry for a minute.
- Add the rice, water, and salt to taste.
- Give it a boil.
- After a boil, reduce the flame.
- Cook till the rice is done and the water has been absorbed.
- Garnish with the kept aside onions.
- Serve hot with any curry or dal.
