
Ingredients:
• 1.5 lb – bottle gourd, finely chopped using a vegetable grater
• 1 – fish head, preferably Rohu, cut into half
• 1 – medium-sized onion, finely chopped
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp – Turmeric powder
• salt to taste
• Oil as required
• a few coriander leaves, finely chopped
Method:
- Marinade the fish head with salt and a pinch of turmeric and keep aside.
- In the meantime, chop the bottle gourd into thin horizontal slits breadthwise using a vegetable grater.
- Finely chop the onion.
- In a shallow non-stick skillet, fry the fish head to light golden brown colour on both sides and keep aside.
- Heat a tbsp of oil in a utensil and add the cumin seeds.
- Add the chopped onion and the fish head and fry well for 2-3 minutes. (Break the Fish head into pieces while frying).
- Add the chopped bottle gourd, turmeric powder and salt and mix well. Cover and cook on low heat until the fish is fully cooked.
- Add the chopped coriander leaves, mix well and remove from the flame.
- Enjoy with rice or chappati.
