Ingredients:
• 2 cup – Channa dal
• 100 g – bread crumbs
• 6 tbsp – cornflour
• A handful – Coriander leaves (finely chopped)
• 2 to 3 tsp – Red Chilli powder (or as per taste)
• 1 tsp – Cumin seed powder
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
• Oil – for deep frying
Method:
- Wash and soak the dal for 30 to 40 mins
- Boil the chana dal in 2 cups water with salt and turmeric powder.
- Cook on a low flame till the dal is tender and the water completely absorbed
- Cool and mash well
- Add coriander leaves, red chilli powder, garam masala powder cumin seed powder and cornflour
- Mix well. Divide into equal portions.
- Make thick round tikkis
- Coat each tikki with some bread crumbs and deep fry in hot oil on a medium flame till golden
- Serve hot with green chutney
