
Ingredients:
• 1 kg – large sized Prawns
• 4 tbsp – sesame seeds
• For the marinade:
• 3 tbsp – soya sauce
• 1.5 tsp – ajinomoto (optional)
• 1 tsp – salt
• 1.5 tsp – black pepper
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• For the batter:
• 1 cup – plain flour
• 3 tbsp – Corn flour
• 1 tsp – baking powder
• 1.5 tsp – white pepper powder
• 1 white of egg, beaten
• 1 tsp – ajinomoto (optional)
• Salt to taste
• Oil for deep frying
Method:
- Shell prawns and de-vein them.
- In a bowl, mix water with 1 tsp. of salt, mix prawns and leave for 3 mins.
- Drain, rinse in cold water and pat dry.
- Mix ingredients for the marinade in a bowl and marinate the prawns for 1 hour in the refrigeraterator.
- Combine all the ingredients for the batter in a bowl with enough water to make a smooth batter of coating consistency.
- Heat oil in a wok, dip the prawns in the batter.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and deep fry till golden brown.
