Ingredients:

• Toor Dal – 1 cup
• Green chillies – 2, slit
• Ghee or oil – 1 tbsp
• Garlic – 6 cloves, peeled
• Cumin seeds – 2 tsp, crushed
• Black pepper Corns – 1/2 tsp, crushed
• Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
• Salt to taste
• Lime juice – of 1/2 Lemon

Method:

  1. Pressure cook the dal with 2 cups of water for 10 mins. Let it stand for 15 mins
  2. Now mash the dal with a ladle.
  3. Add salt and water to get a thick pouring consistency. Boil it
  4. Remove and add lime juice.
  5. Heat ghee or oil in a small pan and saute the garlic until pink.
  6. Add the cumin, pepper and curry leaves to it.
  7. Fry for few seconds. Add this to the dal
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or chapati.
