
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – Green moong dal, washed and soaked for 15 minutes
• 1 – Onion, finely chopped
• 2 sprigs – Chives, finely chopped
• 1 sprig – Garlic greens, finely chopped
• 1 – Green chilli, slit vertically
• 1 stalk – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – Coriander leaves, finely chopped
• 1 tsp – Sesame seeds
• 2 to 3 pinches – Asafoetida powder
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Coriander seed (dhania) powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tbsp – Ghee or oil
• Lemon juice to taste
• Salt to taste.
Method:
- Boil the dal until soft. Drain, do not discard skins and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a heavy pan and splutter the sesame seeds and asafoetida.
- Now add the curry leaves and whole chillies.
- Add the onions and saute until pink.
- Now add the dal, stir and cook for 1 min.
- Now add all the masala powders, salt and mix well.
- Cook for 1 min.
- Now add the chives and garlic greens.
- Add lemon juice. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with puris, phulkas, or bread slices.
