Ingredients:
• Green gram – 1/2 cup
• Tender Banana stem – 1/2 kg
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• Green chillies – 4, chopped
• Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
• Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped
• Lime juice – 2 tbsp
• Sugar – 1 tsp
• Oil – 1 tbsp
• Salt to taste.
Method:
- Soak green gram in water for 2-3 hours.
- Cut banana stem into thin slices.
- Chop the slices into tiny pieces.
- Drain the green gram from water and add fresh water just to cover them.
- Place in a thick bottomed pan and simmer gently.
- When the gram is half cooked, add banana stem and turmeric powder and after 10 mins add salt and sugar.
- Simmer for few more minutes.
- Heat oil in a kadai.
- Add cumin seeds.
- When they splutter, add green chillies.
- After few seconds, add the gram and vegetable mixture.
- Add grated coconut.
- Stir well and remove from fire.
- Serve sprinkled with coriander leaves and lime juice.
