Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Maida
• 2 cups – Water
• 1 cup – Sugar
• 4 tbsps – Ghee
• Nutmeg powder to taste
• Cloves
• Oil for frying
• 1 cup – grated Coconut
• 1/2 cup – Almonds or Cashew nuts or pistas (chopped)
• 2 tbsps – Raisins
• Cardamom powder to taste

Method:

  1. Lightly saute the coconut, nuts, raisins and cardamom powder in some ghee and keep aside.
  2. Boil sugar with water to get a two-string sugar syrup.
  3. Keep in warm water on the stove.
  4. Make a hard dough with maida, ghee and water.
  5. Roll the dough into small pooris.
  6. Fold three edges of each poori to make a pocket.
  7. Fill with a mixture of coconut, raisins and nuts.
  8. Close the fourth flap and seal with a clove.
  9. Deep fry in oil till crisp.
  10. Dip in sugar syrup.
  11. Remove and cool.
