Ingredients:
• shelled Green peas – 3 cup
• Tamarind size of a Walnut
• black gram (Urad) Dal – 1 tbsp
• Bengal (Channa) Dal – 1 tbsp
• Curry leaves few
• Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
• Red Chillies – 4
• oil – 3 tbsp
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• Green chillies – 2, slit
• salt – to taste
Method:
- Cook green peas with enough water till soft. Drain and reserve the water. Mash the peas lightly.
- Soak tamarind in 1/2 cup of the water in which peas were cooked for about 15 minutes and extract the pulp.
- Dry roast both the Dals, curry leaves, chillies and mustard. Cool and powder them together.
- Heat oil in a Kadai. Add cumin seeds. When they splutter, add chillies. Fry for few seconds.
- Add the ground powder and tamarind and tamarind pulp. Simmer till the mixture is very thick.
- Add the peas and salt. Cook and stir till almost dry.
