Ingredients:

• 1 – big size Onion
• 1 – Tomato
• 2 – Green chillies
• 1.5 tbsp – gram flour/basin flour
• Tamarind – small Lemon size
• 1 tbsp – sambar powder
• 1 tbsp – sambar powder
• Salt for taste
• For Seasoning:
• 1 tsp – oil
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• Curry leaves – few

Method:

  1. Soak the tamarind in the water and extract the juice and keep it separately. Cut the onion and tomato.
  2. Heat the oil in the pan and add the mustard seeds once the oil gets hot. When the mustard seeds begins to sputter add the curry leaves and the onion.
  3. Once the colour of the onion changes to a light brown colour, add the tomato.
  4. When the tomato is cooked add the extracted tamarind juice, green chillies (cut length wise) and the sambar powder and salt.
  5. Once the mixture starts boiling add the gram/basin flour and add water.
  6. Quick (Avasara) sambar is ready to serve for idli/sambar.
