Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup – grated Coconut
• 8 – Red Chillies
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1 tsp – Bengal Gram dal
• 2 tsp – Coriander seeds
• 2 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1 string – Curry leaves
• 1 tsp – Asafoetida
• 1/4 cup – Peanuts
• 2 tsp – Tamarind powder
• Jaggery pieces, crushed
• 2 cups – Rice

Method:

  1. Dry roast the coconut powder till it is brown and keep it aside.
  2. Heat a little oil, and fry the chillies, coriander, cumin, black gram dal, Bengal gram dal, curry leaves, asafoetida and peanuts.
  3. After frying it for 2 mins, grind this fried mixture to a smooth paste.
  4. Add in the roasted coconut and grind again. Don’t make the mixture too watery, it should be thick in consistency.
  5. Heat oil, add in some urad dal, Bengal gram dal, peanuts, tamarind and jaggery. Mix it well till it is of a jam like consistency.
  6. Now add salt and the ground mixture. Mix well and fry for 2 mins.
  7. Mix the cooked rice with this.
