
Ingredients:
• 2 -onions
• 2- Brinjals
• salt
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 cup – dal
• 1 tsp – coriander
• 2 – Red Chillies
• 1/2 – coconut, grated
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 1 tsp -mustard seed
• 1 tsp -asafoetida
• Curry leaves
Method:
- Cut onion and brinjal into small cubes, wash and keep aside.
- Wash dal, cook it with salt and turmeric powder.
- Now add brinjal and onion into the dal.
- When dal is cooked, keep it aside.
- Roast whole coriander, red chillies, coconut and grind them together.
- Add ground spices into cooked dal and vegetables.
- For tempering, heat oil in a pan add mustard seed, asafoetida (hing) and curry leaves.
- Fry it for 5 mins and pour it evenly over cooked dal.
- Serve hot with plain rice or chapatti.
