Ingredients:
• 500 gms – squid
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1 tsp – salt
• 1/2 cup – water
• 2 – onions, finely sliced
• 1-inch piece – ginger, finely chopped
• 10 Cloves – garlic, finely chopped
• 2 – green chillies. slit lengthwise
• 3/4 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – pepper powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Tamarind paste
• 1/2 tsp – salt
• 4 tbsp – water
• 2 sprigs – Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – cooking oil
Method:
- Wash and clean the squid. Slice it into circles of 1 cm thickness.
- Dilute red chilli powder, pepper powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder with 2 tbsp of water and keep it aside.
- Marinate the squid with 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder and 1 tsp of salt.
- Keep it aside for half-an-hour.
- Boil the squid in a pan with 1/2 cup of water for 5 -8 minutes or till it softens.
- Heat oil in a pan. Fry sliced onions till it is golden brown in colour.
- Add curry leaves, slit green chillies, chopped ginger-garlic to it. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Add diluted spice powder, tamarind juice and mix it well.
- Saute on low heat for 2-3 minutes or till the raw smell goes away.
- Add cooked squid, 2 tbsp of water and salt to it.
- Cover it with a lid and cook on low heat for 10 – 12 minutes.
- Serve it hot with rice as a side dish.
