Ingredients:
• 2.5 cups – Rice flour
• 1/4 cup – Urad Dal flour
• For the filling:
• 1.5 cups – Chana dal
• 1/2 Coconut
• 10 Cardamoms
• 1.5 cups – Jaggery (scraped)
• A few cardamoms, crushed
• Ghee for frying
Method:
- Soak chana dal for 2 hours.
- Wash it and grind into a thick paste using a little water. Steam cook the paste.
- Remove and break into small pieces.
- Make a one thread consistency syrup with the jaggery.
- Add the chana dal and coconut scrapings to it and cook on a low fire.
- Add powdered cardamoms and remove from fire. Make small balls.
- Mix the rice and urad dal flours. Add water and make thick batter.
- Add a pinch of salt.
- Dip the dal balls one by one in this batter quickly and deep fry in ghee and serve hot.
