Ingredients:

• Donda Kaaya/Tondli – 1 kg
• Onions – 4
• Oil – 4 tbsps
• Salt to taste
• For seasoning:
• Mustard – 1 tsp
• Urad daal – 1 tsp
• Jeera – 1 tsp
• For masala:
• Channa daal – 4 tbsps
• Urad daal – 2 tbsps
• Coriander powder – 3 tbsps
• Jeera powder – 2 tbsps
• Red Chillies – 10
• Hing – a pinch
• Grated Coconut – 1/4 cup
• A small ball of Tamarind |

Method:

  1. Dry roast all the above masala ingredients.
  2. Cut onions lengthwise.
  3. Cut tondli into 4 pieces and apply salt.
  4. Pressure cook up to 3 whistles and set aside.
  5. In a kadai, heat oil and add seasoning ingredients.
  6. Once mustard splutters, add onions and fry until they turn pink.
  7. Add cooked tondli and fry for 5 minutes.
  8. Add ground masala powder evenly over the cooked tondli and stir for a min.
  9. Serve hot with rice.
